"La Marcellina" Farm Business is an ancient typical Chianti's building from the Middle Ages, when its tower was used for war purposes in support of the near Panzano castle.
In several medieval writings we can read that the Firidolfi family, Panzano castle's feudatory, gave the property to a poor man whose name was Marcello to reward him for having eliminated a dangerous enemy. The man named his new property "Marcellino", to insure it against possible controversies.
Afterwards, for a clerical error, the name was changed in "Marcellina" and only recently in "La Marcellina", its current name.
The military building was turned into a farmhouse and in the course of the years its structure was changed several times, until its present form.
Nowadays the Farm Business is surrounded by 20 hectares of land. 13 of them are exploited for the cultivation of specialized vines which give rise to outstanding wines, like the Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. The rest of the estate is utilized for a specialized olive grove which bears a superlative extra-virgin olive oil and is appreciated all around the world.
We wait for you at our Farm Business, where for a very small price (for refund of expenses) it is possible to taste our best products and to visit the wine cellars. It is also possible to buy directly the Farm Business' products.
